The nuthatch-bird (in German: KLEIBER) has been KLEBCHEIMIE's brand and logo since 1948. You yourself might have already seen this grey blue bird picking insects from the bark of a tree. It lives all over Europe and its characteristic is that it has its head downwards when eating on a tree trunk.
The nuthatch-bird's nest hangs strongly glued with its special saliva extract, developed to hold its home steady against the weather. KLEBCHEMIE has chosen this bird's particular characteristic and developed adhesives to bind woods, bricks, ceramics, plastics, metals, rubber, textiles, papers and leathers.

On March 1, 1948 the company of KLEBCHEMIE started business. It was founded by a chemist Max G. Becker and three other partners.

During the first years of business KLEBCHEMIE was put to a severe best by the monetary reform as well as the shortage of row material. At that time the company was situated in Ebenhausen near Ingolstadt, in the German state of Bavaria. Nevertheless the spirit of enterprise and the firms determination to take an active part in the economic construction helped to overcome this hard time.

Beginning in 1949 -by concentrating on the woodworking industry - the company scored its first success. Finding superior solutions to technical bonding problems earned KLEBCHEMIE an impotant place in the glue and adhesive market.

In 1962 KLEBCHEMIE moved to Weingarten near Karlsruhe. Employing 170 people and having an annual output of approx. 16,000 tons in 1991, KLEBCHEMIE now belongs to the group that is in the forefront of German adhesive industries. In the meantime the product range of KLEBCHEMIE -known under the brand name KLEIBERIT -has increased to 300 different products and is exported to more than 70 foreign countries.
